Using a transdisciplinary approach, we triangulated data from desk research, a qualitative survey of voters’ experiences, social media scraping of hashtags (#MAGA, #TradWife, #YourBodyMyChoice), and expert interviews from fields including computational social science, social media research, and online extremism. \n\nOur findings reveal that gender serves as a powerful ideological an¬chor around which political identities form, where social media can act as an accelerant to these processes, albeit not a causal relationship. We identify specific themes around which this relationship is explored, including the employment of ‘traditional roles’, the spectrum of feminism being redefined, the collapse of boundaries be¬tween online and offline spaces, the predominantly emotional na¬ture of gender-based political discourse as well as the mechanisms through which platform architectures can influence polarization. The report concludes with evidence-based intervention pathways addressing platform and algorithm design, human moderation, and community-based digital literacy approaches to mitigate harmful polarization while preserving democratic deliberation."}]}],"bf:provisionActivity":[{"@type":"bf:Publication","bf:date":["2025"]}],"dce:subject":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Gendered political discourse"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Social media polarization"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Algorithmic amplification"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Platform governance"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"U.S. presidential election 2024"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Online harassment"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Identity politics"}]},{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Transdisciplinary research"}]}],"dce:title":[{"@type":"bf:Title","bf:mainTitle":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Your feed, my identity: the politics of gendered narratives in the online space"}]}],"dcterms:language":["eng"],"dcterms:type":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:exactMatch":["https:\/\/pid.phaidra.org\/vocabulary\/69ZZ-2KGX"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"Text"},{"@language":"deu","@value":"Text"},{"@language":"ita","@value":"Testo"}]}],"ebucore:filename":["TFRT - Report.pdf"],"ebucore:hasMimeType":["application\/pdf"],"edm:hasType":[{"@type":"skos:Concept","skos:exactMatch":["https:\/\/pid.phaidra.org\/vocabulary\/JMAV-7F3R"],"skos:prefLabel":[{"@language":"eng","@value":"report"},{"@language":"deu","@value":"Bericht"},{"@language":"ita","@value":"Rapporto"}]}],"edm:rights":["http:\/\/rightsstatements.org\/vocab\/InC\/1.0\/"],"role:aut":[{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Cañizares"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Andrea Forero"}]},{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Gebresilassie"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Dawit"}]},{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Kim"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Jenny Jiyeon"}]},{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"van der Vaart"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Kaela"}]},{"@type":"schema:Person","schema:familyName":[{"@value":"Ramos"}],"schema:givenName":[{"@value":"Roberta"}]}]}
